Dr. Peter Sorensen

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVSc, MANZCVS (Surg))

Peter has lived on the Mornington Peninsula for most of his life and went to Mt Eliza primary and secondary school.  He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2008 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and then started his veterinary career as a mixed animal practitioner working on the Peninsula and then later to dairy country in the rolling hills of Gippsland. After a few years he gained a special interest in small animal surgery and studied further to complete his membership examinations in small animal surgery in 2013. After passing these exams he and his wife Libby travelled to England and worked as locum vets at various veterinary clinics throughout the country for almost one year. Having enjoyed this time of travel and gaining a range of veterinary experience at home and abroad, he decided to settle back at home on the Mornington Peninsula. His professional interests include small animal surgery and reptile medicine. 

Peter has become an accomplished general practice surgeon successfully completing a wide range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries in house.  He also has a great working relationship with our visiting specialist surgeon as well as other external specialist surgeons for referral of complex surgeries.


Dr. Libby Sorensen

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVSc, MANZCVS (E&CC))

Libby graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2009.  Since then she has gained a diverse range of experience in both general practice and emergency medicine.  In 2013 she passed her Membership Examinations in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, a keen area of interest she has developed. 

Currently Libby is a busy Mum of two gorgeous kids and is mostly found behind the scenes of the clinic.  On top of managing the practice as well as occasionally consulting she is completing further study in the area of diagnostic imaging and is pleased to now be able to offer basic echo cardiography to her patients, particularly dogs with mitral valve disease.


Dr. Beth Metcalfe

Veterinarian (BSc, DVM)

Beth was born in England but grew up on the Mornington Peninsula. She attended Padua College in Mornington for her high school years, and in 2019 graduated from the University of Melbourne with her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. She has special interests in antimicrobial stewardship and One Health and is keen to continue researching in this area. When she’s not at work, Beth’s hobbies include running, playing field hockey, spending time with her family and friends, and cooking/baking. She also enjoys spending time with her very special greyhound Margot. 


Lyla Wilson

Veterinarian (BSc DVM)

Lyla joins the Mt Eliza Village Vet team after a stint in mixed-animal practice in East Gippsland. 

She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2023 and brings a warm, compassionate approach to every patient she meets and is always eager to expand her clinical skills.

At home, Lyla is kept busy by her cavoodle Walter and her cat Althea.  Her hobbies include cycling, hiking and reading.


Megan Smith

Veterinarian (BVSc)

With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Megan Smith provides a level of care rooted in deep clinical knowledge, experience and genuine compassion. She prides herself on a holistic approach that treats the entire family unit, recognising that a pet’s health is inseparable from their behaviour and their owner’s peace of mind.

Megan thrives in navigating complex and chronic cases, with a dedicated focus on pain management, behaviour, musculoskeletal health and acupuncture. She is particularly passionate about supporting quality of life for geriatric patients and anxious pets by addressing the intersection of physical pain and behaviour. Known for her calm, methodical diagnostics, Megan delivers clear, pragmatic treatment plans that are both clinically sound and achievable for the modern household.


Julia Groves

Veterinary Nurse (Senior Cert IV Vet Nurse )

Jules is an experienced vet nurse of 25+ years, who joined the MEVV team in 2021. You'll primarily find her out the back nursing in surgery and giving puppy advice to clients! 

Jules has lots of knowledge and experience in dog breeding, specifically cavoodles which she has been breeding for the last 10 years. 

In her spare time you can find her spending time with her partner and kids, as well as camping & travelling. 

 


Amy Braeckevelt

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Amy is a certified nurse with over 25 years experience in the veterinary industry. She is one of our original team members, having started at the clinic when it first opened in 2016. During her career she has worked in small animal practices and worked for an ophthalmology specialist. She has also done volunteer work at the RSPCA Burwood. Amy enjoys all aspects of nursing and liaising with client, but her passion is surgery.

When Amy isn't chasing her twin boys around she enjoys yoga, photography and travelling (having lived in Belgium for two years!). She has three very special pets, two French Bulldogs named Levi and Pierre, and Shadow, a little bob-tailed black cat who was handed into the clinic as a stray kitten in early 2021.


Lauren McAuley

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Lauren is a fully certified nurse who joined the MEVV team in 2018. Due to her compassion & love for her pets growing up she always knew she would end up working with animals!

She has special interests in wildlife and avian care. During her studies she volunteered at Australia Zoo getting to work closely with exotics such as reptiles & a large range of bird species.  When she’s not working you can find her taking photos of her cavoodles or teaching her parrot new tricks.

Lauren’s interests include animal photography, walking, playing the piano & spending time with her cheeky lorikeet Birb.


Sarah Muir

Veterinary Nurse (Studying Cert IV Vet Nursing)

Sarah joined the MEVV team in 2020. She has completed her Certificate III in Animal Studies, and is currently studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing which she plans to complete by the end of 2022. 

Sarah adores all animals big and small, having looked after a range of mice, blue-tongued lizards and tropical fish during her childhood. She spent her high school years caring for and showing sheep. Outside work, Sarah enjoys long walks, gardening and cooking. She also enjoys catching up with friends and family, and spending time with her two cats Tabitha and Tortellini. 


Alex Tindal

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Qualified Vet Nurse)

Alex joined MEVV at the end of 2020 when she moved from her hometown (Geelong) to live on the Mornington Peninsula with her partner. 

Alex was an international flight attendant for 11 years but decided it was time for a career change! She has always had a love for animals & has happily settled into the role of a vet nurse. 

Now recently back from having her baby girl, you'll find at her at reception or doing admin. 

Outside of work, you will find Alex in her Crossfit gym lifting heavy weights, enjoying a good coffee or out walking with her baby and German shepherds. 


Corinna Dillon

Receptionist

Corinna joined the MEVV team in 2022. She is a familiar face around the clinic as she is our full-time receptionist.

Corinna has worked as a dental nurse for over 20 years; a career she says was incredibly rewarding & fun. She now enjoys working in reception, as an animal (especially cat) lover & people person she sees it as the best of both worlds!

She has cats & guinea pigs at home with some of the coolest enrichment set ups we’ve seen. Outside of work you’ll find Corinna baking & decorating cakes, renovating her home & playing with her many, many animals.


Sienna Botha

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Sienna joined the MEVV team in 2023 as a trainee veterinary nurse. Originally from England, she moved to Melbourne in 2018 and is completing her final year of a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience, with plans to study a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in the future.

She has loved animals from a young age and developed an appreciation for wildlife while spending time in South Africa, including volunteering on a safari conservation program.

Outside of work, Sienna enjoys snowboarding, travelling, spending time with friends, and caring for her cats George and Maisy, her rabbit Otis, and her three family dogs.
